Another annual Okotoks tradition is being adapted for the pandemic.

This year's Teddy Bear Picnic will be quite different than the usual affair, having been re-branded as a "Teddy Bear Hunt."

The event will see families travelling across town to various teddy bear displays with activities set up along the way, all designed with physical distancing in mind.

Specialist with the Okotoks Family Resource Centre Sherry Mullen says a number of local organizations are still taking part this year.

"We have a number of participating agencies or services, we have some businesses, we have some Alberta Health Services partners, we also have a number of non-profits. So you'll see some very familiar names setting up, as well as some you may not have heard are offering services in Okotoks."

She says by this point, they're pretty comfortable with the process of holding these events that are modified for COVID-19.

"I think that they're all pretty comfortable with setting up for social distancing, very familiar with the protocols that need to be in place. Absolutely, they're all on board and can't wait to have a fun hunt on Thursday."

A map is available on the town's website, and will also be available at their tent outside the recreation centre on the day of the event.

The Teddy Bear Hunt kicks off at 9am on Thursday, July 9th.
