The roadways for the time being are open on Veterans Way in Okotoks but there's a few places that still need to have some work done until the project can officially be completed.

For almost two and a half months traffic routes were alter both in the north and south bound lanes before it re-opened.

Project Engineer for the Town, James Cameron says there's still lots to be done.

"Most of the sidewalk is done for the year, temporary barriers are up now until we get the permanent barriers installed that's going to happen this year as well," he says. "The remainder of the concrete on both sides of the road will be done next year."

Cameron says there will be the odd closures coming up soon.

"That will go from Mountain Street all the way up to Milligan Drive. Kind of a similar theme going there with a multi-use pathway on the west side and wider sidewalk on the east side along with advanced landscaping."

From what started as a quick project turned out to be little bit longer than expected and Cameron says the hit a couple of speed bumps in the project's plans.

"There were some changes in the design that we had to go through mid project and that did cause a delay. Also with us having to start the project later in the year because of the additional public consultation we went through. A lot of our sensitive work had to happen around now."
