Open Farm Days are set to go the weekend of Aug. 22 and 23 across Alberta.

For those who don't want to make the drive out from the city on Saturday, the Alberta Association of Agriculture Societies has another idea.

Tim Carson with the Association says it's a luxury coach tour that will take in a number of local spots called "The Taste of the South".

"The Saskatoon Farm over to Chinook Honey and then over to Millarville Market where we'll have a four-course culinary-tasting event and then from there to the Eau Claire Distillery in Turner Valley and off to the OH Ranch just outside of Longview and then back to Stampede Park," Carson says.

He says the stop at the Millarville Market is not just any lunch either.

"We have a chef from the Yellow Door Bistro out of Calgary who has developed our menu for that event," he says. "We are actually using grass-fed beef from Trails End Beef for the meal itself, as well as other pieces and parts from within the tour and the market."

He says it gives people who maybe grew up on a farm and haven't been back, as well as those who are from the city, an opportunity to see just where the food on their plate comes from and who's responsible for it.

There are still seats available.
