Threats against the Ecole Okotoks Junior High School have resulted in the school being closed on March 9 for the day.

Drew Chipman, assistant superintendent of Foothills School Division, says the decision to close was on the recommendation of the Okotoks RCMP.

"We've done that under an abundance of caution to make sure we are ensuring the safety of students and staff," said Chipman.

The police and the school division want to make sure that everyone is cautious and stays safe.

"They felt closing it tomorrow 'March 9' is our best course of action."
