The Town of Okotoks has announced the winner of the #thingstodoinokotoks contest.

The contest was started following the social media popularity of the Towns signage on public transit in Calgary.

Shane Olson, economic development manager, says the winner of the contest is Sarah Newman.

"Her slogan was 'a touch of nature, a touch of class, a touch of small town living' and that was voted on by the people and she received a great prize package with a number of goodies from around town."

The runner up was Angelo Rinaldi with his play on words, "we have a rock big enough to beat paper and scissors."

Olson says the contest was a positive way to run with all the attention the add campaign garnered.

"The hashtag is getting quite a bit of traction, it's had 200,000 twitter followers over the course of the marketing campaign going viral for our tourism program and we are currently going through a list of different ideas and things we can capitalize on and extend the shelf life of that because it has attracted a lot of attention to our community."

Olson says residents can continue to have their say by taking the questionnaire as part of the Roger Brooks International rebranding initiative the Town is undergoing.
