Toddlers were given an evaluation on how quickly they actually are growing up Wednesday morning at the Okotoks Curling Rink.

The Town put on it's "I Am Three... Explore With Me" event.

Children played with crafts and games and had tons of fun while parents got the opportunity to discuss their child's development and connect with community resources.

Foothills Children's Wellness Network Coordinator Tammy Burke says it's a great way to to see your child's development in a setting where everyone is comfortable.

"We try to incorporate screening for 3 year olds in a fun way," she says. "The event is basically having stations set-up with professionals all of the different stations that are here to go through the different domains on questionaires given to families."

Burke says both child and parent come away with a lot from the event.

"What we're looking for is to see if there's any areas of concern and if there are areas of concern what we typically do is try to help connect family with the right support in that area. So for example if there's a child needing some help with their speech  then we would try to get them a referral to a speech pathologist."

She says it doesn't feel like I Am Three... Explore With Me is evaluating development as the children have so much fun.

"We've had a great turn-out at every event and the kids come and typically the idea is to go through the stations, answer the questions on the questionaire and then have your scoring done. But the kids enjoy the event so much they usually stay for the full two hour session."
