Crystal Ridge Drive was home to this years Rotary Club Soap Box Derby Saturday.

The event allows kids the chance to build their own cars and then race them.

Co-chair Andrew Northrup says that it a great event to bring families together and build relationships.

"Kids get excited about building the carts with their parents and family."

Northrup adds, in general it is a great event to just spend the day outside with the family.

Over the years the number of participants have varied but the fun has stayed the same.

"The most participants we have had in one year is up to 120, and this year we are just over 90," Northrup says.

Northrup says, the money raised by the event goes back into community programs for youth.

"With Rotary we have a few different youth organizations that we fund, giving some kids the opportunity they wouldn't otherwise have."
