Musicians are coming together in support of STARS at the Southern Alberta Music Festival.

This year will mark the third year for the event since it originally started in 2013 as a way to support those affected by the flood.

The event at Aspen Crossing will feature a variety of country, blues, folk and old fashioned rock n’ roll in support of the air ambulance service used by many.

Rochelle Watt, marketing team member at Aspen Crossing, says she feels STARS is a group that needs more attention.

"They do so much for the rural areas and because there's so much rural territory within Alberta, people travelling back and forth, the service and life saving service that these people provide... I don't think they have enough recognition."

She says about 80 percent of the funding STARS receives comes from community type events.

Watt says the event features plenty of locals.

"Sykamore, also known as Jordan Ostrom and she's right here in Carseland. We've got Drew Gregory, Lindsay Butler, Larry Vannatta... we've got over 20 entertainers that are making a name for themselves and they're all local talent which is really great."

A few other artists playing at the festival include Chris Cummings, High Steppin Daddy & Shaela Miller, and many more.

Tickets for two day event on Aug. 21-22 can be purchased by clicking here.
