This Family Day long weekend will have some nice weather in the forecast but not the above normal trends we've seen this past week.

Sunshine, rain and snow could all appear on the weekend in no particular order.

Meteorologist Brian Proctor says there's cold front on the way to the Foothills.

"There's a bit of cold air that's beginning to settle down into the province pushing down to the north," he says. "The warm air has been pushed to the east so that's setting up conditions to allow more typical seasonal values to sort of settle in across much of the province."

Proctor says the moisture and precipitiation that could fall won't really appear till around late Saturday afternoon and into the evening.

"A general cool down through the weekend, Saturday we'll see a high of around plus three. Some flurries or snow Saturday night it's really uncertain right now whether that snowfall area is going to develop. It may miss the Okotoks region and might develop to the north and to the north east of Calgary."

With temperatures falling to the mid minus teens overnight with the moisture could lead to some extra slick roads and Proctor reminds all of those heading to out to check the forecast and plan ahead.

"Monday we may see rebound temperatures up to about plus nine, so a little bit more warmth but in general terms as we move through the next work week we're seeing it return to more seasonal conditions."
