Fifty Business students at the Foothills Composite High School spent their day showcasing an assortment of products at their annual Spring Market on Wednesday.

Students have been working on their own business project for four months now, with over 18 groups selling baked goods, games, relaxation crafts, and even fidget toys.

Jackie Strom, Business Teacher at the Comp. says the market is a culmination of everything the students have learned in class.

"They learn marketing skills, salesmanship, financial analysis, and cost breakdown throughout the year," she says. "All of that is used to create a business plan, and then to put on a market at the end of the year."

Strom shares the value of the spring market, which gives Grade 11 and 12 students real world experience dealing with business.

"It makes the content we learn relevant for how businesses actually operate. We do some review at the end to see how our costs actually came in, what went well, and what didn't. They can actually see how this plays out in a business setting."

All proceeds will be donated to various charities the students have decided are important to them.
