The chance of more snow is getting smaller every day, which means town crews will soon be out again for street cleaning.

Major street cleaning operations are set to begin tomorrow, April 8th, with crews alternating between residential roads in the day and major routes in the night.

Signs will be placed to notify residents of imminent street cleaning activities in the area, during which times residents are asked to remove any vehicles that are parked in the street.

Acting Manager of Municipal Enforcement Peter Stapley says having streets that are clear of parked vehicles is essential to efficiently getting these streets clean in a timely fashion.

"If we can, our officers will be going in front trying to get a hold of people as well, trying to get the streets cleaned as best we can, however if a vehicles doesn't get moved, street sweepers will have to go around it and possibly come back at a later date. To be most efficient and to make sure we get it done, we're asking people to move their vehicles when they see the signs go up and try to help out to get these streets cleaned."

He says transportation crews will try to get signs out as soon as possible, ideally a day or two before street cleaning crews move into the area.

Residents are asked to stay clear of street sweeping vehicles, with one such collision having occurred just last week.
