A busy week for the Okotoks Fire Department in this edition of the Fire Report.

Okotoks Fire Chief Ken Thevenot

Fire Chief Ken Thevenot says they responded to 27 calls which around the total of the last two weeks for Fire Services.

"We had a couple of small fire incidents we responded to, a grass fire. Four motor vehicle accidents, medical responses, we had some alarm system activations and we also had a pot on stove call in the Mountainrae area," he says.

Thevenot says they had to unorthodox approach to entering the home to deal with the situation inside.

"We did notice some light smoke inside the residence, it appeared that nobody was home at the time, we gained access through a basement window and we did find a pot on the stove and it had fire damage to the stove which had light smoke throughout the house.

With the fire put out, Thevenot reminds us of certain measure to take whether you're at home or not when it comes to cooking whether it's a barbecue, stove or even a crock pot.

"If you are cooking at anytime, do not leave it unattended it is simple as that. If something does go wrong if your electrical shorts out or something goes run with the appliance and malfunctions in anyway you can quickly take care of and mitigate what's going on."
