The Town of Okotoks along with Alberta Health Services and the Primary Care Network are working together to make it so young kids in Okotoks can have a dental exam.

Family and Community Support Services leader Debbie Posey says that registered oral health professionals are who are brought in for the clinics.

"The hope is that by doing this we will catch some of those at risk little ones by getting them a oral health exam," Posey says.

The Canadian Dental Association recommends that a child see a dental professional by age 1.

Posey says that a complete visual mouth exam will be done.

"If the parents agree they can do a Topical Fluoride Varnish Treatment."

Fluoride Varnish Treatment has been proven to prevent future cavities and stop ones that have already started.

Clinics are held the first Saturday of every month.

"Children between 12 and 35 months that live in Okotoks are eligible for the free oral exams." Posey says.
