Spruce Meadows' Horses Jump to Give a Leg Up event was a huge success for the Foothills Country Hospice.

The final bid for the organization's fiber glass horse came in at $1,700 and also brought the group an extra $7,000 for winning second place in best design.

Dawn Elliott, the hospice's executive director, says she's thrilled with how the campaign went.

"It was totally a group effort at the hospice," she says. "We had our volunteers come and paint the horse and we left the design totally up to them. The beautiful thing about our horse is that the design on the horse, every picture on there, is something you would see out of our hospice windows."

Elliott says she's not sure where the horse's new home will be now that the auction is over.

"I guess it'll depend on the person who bought the horse," she says. "We were secretly hoping that maybe whoever bought it would want to donate it back to the hospice and we would put it back on the property somewhere, but we don't know that."

The money will be used to purchase a new infusion pump for the facility which allows medication to be delivered continuously rather than patients undergoing multiple rounds through the day and night.

The Foothills Country Hospice's next fundraiser will be the Hawaiian Luau Gala on Oct. 24.
