With the 1st day of Spring officially here the forecast is going be even nicer than normal, with of course the usual chance of snow in store for the next couple weeks.

Through the majority of March like February and January has seen higher than normal temperatures from previous winters.

Meteorologist with Environment Canada Kirk Thorneby says March's average high temperature is usually around 5 degrees Celsius this time of year.

"We've been sitting at about 11 degrees so far this year, so quite above normal for temperature," he says. "For precipitation, usually March is our snowiest month by far usually we see around 20 centimetres of snow but this year was a lot drier we've only seen about half a centimetre of snow."

Thorneby says the next two weeks could see snow return in the forecast but not in significant amounts.

"Looks like a pacific system is moving across in through Montana and into North Dakota  which could bring snow back into some parts of Alberta on Monday & Tuesday and longer range looks like there may be an event next weekend."

Looking into next month Thorneby says the 1st true month of spring will be like the previous three months.

"April is looking like we will see warmer than normal temperatures for Western Canada, about one to two degrees above normal is what the longer range seasonal forecast is showing for spring time in Alberta."
