The M.D. of Foothills has been reluctantly recruited to speak for both Black Diamond and Turner Valley when it comes to the Province's Growth Management Board for the Calgary Region.

M.D. Mayor Larry Spilak says it's not a job they asked for, but one they will do the best job they can at.

"If it remains the same, and the policies are what the province has put out. I can assure you the M.D. of Foothills will represent their needs and respect their needs and wants as if they were our own."

Spilak says he'll try and make sure he can take the Mayors of either or both communities to meetings when allowed.

They may not be able to vote, but at least he says they can be heard at the table.
