From Pyeongchang to Okotoks.

That's the story for two time Alberta Ladies Curling Champ, and two time Olympic Curling Coach, Rene Sonnenberg, who's coaching her son's team at this weekend's U-18 Men's and Women's Curling Provincials in Okotoks.

Sonnenberg, who calls the Peace Country home, says this was her first Olympics, at least coaching for Team Canada.

"I coached Denmark in 2010 in Vancouver. But being part of Team Canada is a bigger thing because the expectations there, but your also part of a much bigger team with a lot more distractions because you want to go see all your teammates skate and ski and all that."

She says the pain of Rachel Homan's Team Canada rink not making the medal round is still pretty fresh, and she and the rest of the team will debrief with Olympic officials on the successes and failures of the games once the sting has subsided a bit.

Sonnenberg made it to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts four times.

Twice as the Alberta champ in 1999 and 2001 and again as an alternate in 2013 and 2014.
