The Foothills Advocacy in Motion Society is offering area photographers the chance to have their work featured in a 2018 calendar.

Entries for the Society's Second Annual Fundraising calendar will be accepted until August 31.

Arlene Ridgeway, fundraising coordinator for Foothills AIM Society, says the theme of the competition is "My Community, Your Community, Our Community" and they're looking for pictures of Southern Alberta.

"On September 1st, what we'll do is upload all the photos into an album on our Facebook page," Ridgeway explains. "Then we get people within the communities of Strathmore, Okotoks and High River to vote on them by liking them. The photos with the most votes will be selected and put into the annual fundraising calendar with all the proceeds going to the AIM Society."

She says the response to date has been fantastic, adding that some of the photos submitted so far feature mountains, farming scenes, animals and The Prairies.

Proceeds from the calendar go directly to help support and strengthen the society's programs.

"The Foothills AIM Society offers support for adults with developmental disabilities in and around High River, Okotoks and Strathmore," Ridgeway says. "We offer a variety of support in many ways, including home living, respite, outreach, employment placement and community access, the main thing being to advocate for adults to direct their own lives.

"There's always funding that needs to go with that and the funding that's raised from this calendar initiative goes directly to helping support those programs."

Ridgeway says they are also looking for 12 area businesses to sponsor each month of the calendar.

The calendars should be for sale at various locations in High River, Okotoks and Strathmore, as well as on the society's website, sometime in October.
