Attendance may have been down this year  at the Leather 'N' Chaps Ridin for SNAPS Poker Rally and Show and Shine but the spirit wasn't.

The 6th annual event took place July 23rd in down town High River for the first time.

Orvella Small, executive director, says the Saturday was jam packed with events.

"It was a wonderful day with absolutely wonderful weather. We had a show and shine as well as a kids zone, we had music and we had 70 some riders and passengers who were off to do a ride some of them haven't done before."

This year the event changed things up and Small says the crowd was pleased with the changes.

"We tried something different and had these pledge sheets for riders so people could sponsor them to go in the ride and anyone that pledged $25 or more will get a tax deductible receipt from Snaps...I also think everyone was excited to have the event in downtown High River, it was open, the street looked fabulous with all the bikes lined up...and it was just another way to do something down town."

SNAPS, Rotary who also helped with the event,  local bands and everyone who attended raised $14,000 after expenses were paid.

The funds will go a long ways to support the programs at the Foothills Special Needs Association for Parents and Siblings.
