There's going to be another very small but very welcome renovation to the High River Hospital.

The Foothills Shriners have turned over a cheque for $5,000 to the High River and District Health Care Foundation for a small play area in the waiting room of the Emergency Ward.

Unit Manager for Emergency and Maternity, Chantel Hunter says they'll also be able to purchase some stuffed toys for kids.

"Simple things like teddy bears and dolls provide great distractions for the kids when they're going through painful procedures such as a needle poke of an IV initiation, or anything like that," Hunter says.

She says the kids will even be able to take the stuffed toys home with them.

Ernie Hilland, Assistant Rubban with the Shriners says helping with hospitals is what they're all about, but it's not just Shriners hospitals.

"We do take a certain amount of money that we raise, all the time, and we want to put it to our local hospital here, "Hilland says. "Our support comes from this area, we want to make sure we give back to that area."

He says Shriners have hospitals all over.
