The 4th annual Sheep River Health Trust Radiothon wrapped up Thursday night in Okotoks.

The 13 hour live broadcast from Sobeys ran from 5:30 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. and raised $57,275.

Tanya Thorn, from the Sheep River Health Trust says, they received an incredible amount of support from the community.

"It was a great day, we had huge business support, and our business community just continues to astound me, and also the residents!" Thorn adds "The number of people that called and just dropped in, whether it was with a $5 donation, or we had a couple that dropped in with a $5000 donation; Every single donation makes a huge impact to what we do in this region."

Despite the slow economy, Thorn says, Okotokians have managed to increase their support over last years Radiothon total, by nearly $4000.

"We were a little bit worried coming into this year, we've had a downturn in the economy and people are struggling, families are struggling and we see that."  Thorn says "We're super pleased with being above last years total by about $4000."

Eight different organizations in the Foothills will receive support from this years Radiothon. Foothills SNAPS, Rowan House, It Takes A Village, Okotoks Urgent Care, Home Care, Oilfields Hospital, KidsSport, and the Turner Valley accessible playground.

Donations are still being accepted until Saturday through the Okotoks Sobeys till campaign.
