The Sheep River Health Trust and Eagle 100.9's annual Together We make a Difference Radiothon is less than a month away.

This year the event will be supporting AHS Integrated Home Care, Rowan House, Foothills SNAPS, It Takes a Village, KidSport, the Turner Valley PTA, and Oilfields General Hospital.

Andrea Mitchell, executive director of the SRHT, says funds will also go towards creating more privacy at Okotoks Urgent Care.

"If you've gone there and you've needed isolation for privacy or for infection they only have one private room there and if it's being used they have to find another solution so we'd like to take two of the bays, two of the beds, and make those into private spaces."

Mitchell says it's important the money raised stays in the Foothills.

"We believe that we live and work in this community and we need to support it. Last year alone we put $181,000 back into our community and the radiothon helps us with that," she says. "Every organization between KidSport, to Rowan House, to medical equipment, we're out there helping our other community partners move forward and provide the services they need to."

The Together We Make a Difference radiothon takes place Apr. 13 at Okotoks Sobeys.
