The Okotoks Pubic Library is encouraging residents to share the love with veterans this Valentine's Day.

The library has set up a station in its Maker's Space where valentines can be made to express appreciation to those who fought for our country.

Lara Grunow, assistant librarian at the Okotoks Public Library, says this isn't the first year for the initiative.

"Last year was the first time we did it and we had a tremendous response so we thought we might as well do it again and invite the whole community out to make some Valentine's Day cards."

Grunow says the cards will be delivered to veterans across Canada.

"The kids come and they create individualized Valentine's Day cards and then we collect them and send them off to Veteran Affairs Canada and they distribute them to veterans who live in long term care facilities across the country in time for February 14."

Cards can also be made at home and dropped off at the library.

The deadline to submit cards for the project is Jan. 20.
