Okotoks officially opened its fourth grocery store in the community Friday.

Save-On-Foods located at 100 Southbank Blvd next to the Costco had its ribbon cutting and tour Thursday night. Residents were treated to music and free food. A scope of the facility was on display with a number of local vendors displaying items on the Save-On shelves.

Store Manager James Inglis says it's been a busy few weeks putting the final touches together.

"Our square footage is around 40,000 and we've hired 200 people in Okotoks over the last couple of weeks," he says.

Also during the opening of the store, Save-On-Foods wrote a cheque for $3000 to the Okotoks Food Bank.

Like any good business story Inglis started with the Overwaitea Food Group when he was just a teenager and worked his way through the ranks.

"My first job was when I was 15 years old as a bag boy in one of our smaller stores in Nakusp B.C. The company looks after their people, they offered me a sort of apprenticeship if you will to move up with the company. If you're passionate about people and you like being on the floor and working hard and working with a lot of energetic people then this is the place to be."

Save-On-Foods is the first official grocery store in the Foothills that offers online grocery shopping which Inglis says it just a way of times for busy people and families on the go.

"Every single item that we offer in store is available online. They place their order, we've got some designated parking stalls, they pull up to the stall, the phone number for what we call our E-Com is on those stalls, they phone the number when they get to the stall  and we bring their groceries to the car and make sure they're happy and away they go."
