The warm weather has allowed businesses like the Saskatoon Farm to open for the season, well ahead of schedule.

Owner/ Operator of the farm, Paul Hammer, says that they are open for business two weeks prior to their initial opening.

He says with the season starting early, the green house has been busy.

"People are already buying flowers, getting baskets prepared, and buying plants and fruit trees,"Hammer says.

The Saskatoon Farm's peak period for traffic and sales is usually around mid May, and into the summer months when berries are in their prime picking times.

"We have had as many as five or six thousand people come through here in one day, during our peak times."

Hammer adds that when people are buying their flowers and plants this year, they should remember that the big box stores sell product that comes from Ontario and B.C., and not from Alberta farmers.

"Everyone wants to support local produce suppliers, they should also support locally grown flowers and plants. We are also part of the Alberta farming community." Hammer says.
During the year the Farm will be uncovering a new Totem pole, and holding a few different events, like the ``Stompin` Tom Connors Night`` and a ``Mexican Night``.

The Saskatoon Farm will host around 40 weddings throughout the season.
