Rural crime issues aren't going away, but thanks to increased vigilance RCMP are getting better results.

High River RCMP say they're getting more phone calls, more awareness from landowners and the public and that's leading to more arrests.

The President of the Foothills Rural Crime Watch Association, Don Larson, says for them as an organization, things tend to quiet down in the Summer, but they're still very interested in getting local landowners together to talk about what they can and can't do when faced with a criminal situation on their land.

"If we could organize a forum, just my thoughts on this, about maybe sometime in the fall where we could address some of those concerns, where we could find legal council, who'd be prepared to speak on the issue. I think that would be beneficial to everybody."

Larson, a lawyer and landowner himself, says it's just not as simple as saying "Here's what you can and can't do," when confronted by criminals on your property.
