The Rowan House Emergency Shelter has received a generous gift from the Okotoks Denny's.

Wednesday morning the restaurant presented a cheque fro $611 to the organization.

Denny's approached the Rowan House and offered to donate the proceeds from its ticket sales for Taste of Okotoks in July to the group.

Ally Cramm, member of the Rowan House's resource development team, says the group is always appreciative of the donations it receives.

"Rowan House is grateful to all the organizations that hold third party fundraisers for us or bring in donations in some way because it's always those little ones that build up to make Rowan House Possible."

Cramm says while we may not be able to see it, the need for the rowan house is always there.

"Unfortunately family violence is still a problem in Alberta," she says. "Alberta has one of the highest rates in the country for domestic violence and things like post flood stress and the economy only add to it."

Cramm says the Rowan House thanks the Okotoks Denny's for all its support.
