Westmount School was rocking with live music Wednesday morning thanks to Robb Nash and his band.

Nash visited the school to share an inspiring story about his experience with mental health and depression after he was pronounced dead from a vehicle crash involving a semi when he was in grade 12.

The band's performance differs from what students would expect at a typical school presentation.

"There's different presentations about drinking and driving for an hour but every time we've gone to schools they've always said can you please talk about self harm and cutting, depression, and suicide," Nash says. "We're in the school for about an hour and 20 minutes and we cover all of that stuff but at the end of the day we're just trying to get people to realize everyone has a story, you need to keep walking because somebody out there needs your story."

To date about 521 students have pulled suicide notes out of their pockets and given them to Nash at his presentations.

Nash says youth need to know there's more to life than working a 9 to 5.

"I think we've created this insignificant world where we go to school, get a job, drink coffee and retire and I think the young generation is going 'this is it?', 'there's got to be more to life than this' so our our whole thing is about why not step out and do something for somebody else, why wait for tragedy because I don't think you have to. I do my tour because I don't want others to have to die like I did before they start to live."

Nash and his band have performed for free at over 150 schools in eight months.
