With heavy snow fall over night and continuing into today the roads have gotten slick and icy.

These conditions have lead to accidents and unsafe road conditions.

Municipal Enforcement Manager Tim Stobbs suggests not to go out today if you don't have to.

"If you do have to go out use extreme caution." Stobbs says.

He adds that while the sanding trucks are out it can become icy in a very short order.

And for those with 4 wheel drive vehicles remember that it doesn't mean they are any safer.

"You have to understand that it allows you to accelerate faster on slippery roads, but it does not allow you to stop any faster." Stobbs says.

You still have to use extreme caution, especially coming up to intersections where other vehicles have skidded before you, and polished the surface.

However if you do get into an accident or end up in the ditch Stobbs says you and your passengers saftey are your first priority.

If you have more than $5000 worth of damages and your vehicle is unmovable call the RCMP."

Depending on how busy the RCMP gets there is a chance you will have to get your vehicle removed, and then report it.
