The President and CEO of Rocky Mountain Equipment is speaking out about the fire Thursday, November 23, at their High River location.

Garrett Ganden says the fire appears to have started in their parts department, but thanks to their sprinkler system, and the quick action of fire fighters from High River, Okotoks and the M.D. of Foothills, it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

He says they're working with investigators to find the exact cause of the fire.

He says because the fire got started so early, no one was around to get hurt.

Ganden says the store will stay closed for now, and they'll let us know once they're ready to reopen.

Here's the statement from Ganden:

"A fire occurred in our High River store early this morning.  The excellent efforts of first responders, combined with the fire-containment systems and structures already in place within the building, helped to contain the blaze and prevent a much larger incident.   Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of this event as the store was closed at the time of the blaze.  On initial inspection, it appears that the fire started in our parts department.  The extent of the damage is currently being evaluated, as is the exact cause of the blaze.  The store will remain closed for the time being, and we will inform the community as to when we can restart our operations as soon as circumstances permit."
