The Town of High River issued a river monitoring report on Wednesday showing the current risk is normal to above normal.

Over the next few days 20 to 30 mm of rain is expected to fall in the southwest corner of the province.

The Highwood River has seen a steady increase in levels and flow rate.

General river conditions are considered to be normal to above normal for this time of year.

Current flow rates for the Highwood River range from 38.4-48.5 cms.

The Okotoks Fire Department is continuing to monitor the Sheep River and meets with Alberta River Forecasting and the Town on a regular basis.

Ken Thevenot, Okotoks Fire Chief, says the river is running around 32 cms which is about normal for this time of year.

There are no river related flooding concerns at this time.
