Parents looking to get their kids set up with a Registered Education Savings Plan or RESP, are in luck as the group, Wild Rose Community Connections is hosting a sign up event this weekend at the Parent Link Centre in High River.

Volunteer Danielle Smith says they're making it easy to get your kids started on saving for their post secondary education.

"All the major banks are going to be there as well as the major Credit Unions. It's an opportunity to come, establish an account and be able to apply for the Alberta Centennial Education Savings Grant. That grant is actually coming to an end on July 31st. So this is really the last time to be able to apply for it."

Smith says with tuition's not getting any cheaper the earlier you start saving for your child's education, the better.

"As soon as you get started with your savings, then the parents, the grand parents, the aunts, the uncles, they can all deposit a little bit of money in there to be able to play for your child's education when they get onto post secondary studies. There's matching contributions that the Federal Government makes. It's really just a matter of getting started and we want to make it as easy as possible to make that happen."

Between the ACES grant from the Province and the Canada Learning Bond or CLB offered by the Federal Government, there's as much as $4,000 dollars up for grabs for those that apply.

The event runs Saturday, June 27 from 1-to-4 p.m.
