UPDATE: The Town of Okotoks has released the following statement:

"Please note that the Repair Café event on Saturday, January 30 is now cancelled due to COVID 19 restrictions. To ensure your safety, all in-person events are subject to provincial guidelines and health measures. Please keep an eye out for the next Repair Café."

No word on if the event will be rescheduled.

The Repair Cafe in Okotoks may be on its way back for Saturday, January 30.

The Cafe's Rosheen Tetzlaff, says even though they're hoping to start later this month however it could be called off if the provincial government doesn't relax their COVID restrictions on Thursday, January 21.

Tetzlaff says they have made some big changes to accommodate COVID protocol.

"People book online ahead of time with their fixers for a certain time and then arrive at their appointment time, sign-in, wear a mask and use hand sanitizer everything like that."

The 30th would mark the first Cafe of the new year and Tetzlaff says it will still be the same idea as in the past.

"We have a really awesome group of volunteer fixers. People can bring in their broken items and hopefully they can be fixed by our fixing team."

Tetzlaff says people can obviously sign up to bring items but can also contact them if they want to volunteer and be on the fixing side of the cafe.
