Things are going to be changing for the Bar-U Ranch.

Product Development Officer, Mike Mclean says they are excited about the funding for upcoming renovations.

"The big news of course was those significant infrastructure investments being made at national historic sites, national parks, national marine conservation areas, and that includes four million dollars announced for the Bar-U Ranch National Historic Site."

He says they are looking forward to lots of changes.

"So it's going to include extensive work, refurbishing four of our historic site buildings. That's going to include the Workhorse Barn, a building called the Bunkhouse Self-Feeder, a machine shed and the Slaughter House. We think the restoration of these structures is going to greatly enhance the visitor experience and ensure that the story of ranching in Canada is preserved for future generations."

Mclean says they are just getting started with the project.

"It's a five year program. So, we're getting the ground-work all launched right now with the planning process, and we hope to be seeing things move along."

Mclean says the Bar-U Ranch is the only national historic site to tell the story of ranching in Canada.
