The Sheep River Health Trust is helping recognize those who've made a difference in our lives this holiday season.

The Points of Light campaign is back where people can purchase a light on the trees outside of the Okotoks Health and Wellness Centre or Oilfields General Hospital. They'll also be recognized in the local newspaper in January.

Andrea Mitchell, executive director of the Sheep River Health Trust, says there's also a wish tree at Oilfields.

"It has everyone's name on it but the staff and residents out there wanted to put wishes on it," she says. "So we have little ribbons anyone can go buy and you can write a wish or note on it and tie it to the wish tree so it's a living tree out there that gives everybody a time to remember someone, wish on something, or be thankful for something else."

Mitchell says the money raised from the campaign will stay in the Foothills.

"For the Points of Light we support the Oilfields General Hospital and Okotoks Health and Wellness Centre and the programs in both buildings, so the money specifically goes to those two centres."

Last year the campaign raised about $12,000.

One point of light can be purchased for $20 or 3 can be bought for $50. They can be purchased online or by calling (403) 995- 5400.
