The Town of Turner Valley have now rubber stamped their copy of an amalgamation study report prepared for both them and Black Diamond.

Turner Valley Mayor Kelly Tuck says the report boils down to three options.

"Staying status quo, continuing with shared services and what amalgamation could look like. The document's now done and it's up to new councils to decide where they want to take it. Understanding there's still quite a bit of work that has to be done to the document. There's actually quite a few things, "next steps" that need to happen."

Tuck says if they decide to move ahead with amalgamation by the 2021 civic elections, they'd have to make a formal request to the Province by October of 2019, and then hold several rounds of public consultations and maybe even a plebiscite.
