Okotoks RCMP are asking Okotokians to take extra care and be prepared for long weekend travel and traffic.

Sukh Randhawa, Okotoks RCMP Sgt., says members will be out and about making sure traffic laws are enforced.

"We would like to remind the public to respect the rules of the road, give yourself enough time to drive to a destination, don't drink and drive, and be safe. Give yourself enough time because the weather is going to be nice, and it's going to be a lot busier on the highway, ensure you buckle up, and make sure everyone in the car does the same."

Randhawa hopes all residents follow the rules of the road to ensure they arrive where they need to safely.

He adds all in all Okotokians do very well over the long weekends, and praises residents for their safe driving.

"We're seeing significant changes in terms of people abiding the rules of the road, and people being more cautious when they are traveling."
