RCMP say an Okotoks man is facing charges from an incident in Hardisty.

On May 15, police say officers from the Killam and Viking detachments along with the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit attended to a rural property in Hardisty in an effort to track down and apprehend two individuals who were wanted on multiple outstanding arrest warrants.

When police arrived at the scene, they observed what they believed to be a stolen vehicle in the driveway. The vehicle took off and drove into a wooded area behind the residence.

Containment was set up in the area and the vehicle was located abandoned a short time later after getting stuck in the mud.

Police Dog Services were on the scene and a search warrant was executed at the residence.

Through investigation, it was discovered that the abandoned vehicle had been stolen from the Vulcan area the month before.

The next day on May 16, Killam RCMP say they received a report of two suspicious people walking in the area where the suspects had last been seen by police.

Officers responded to the call and arrested the suspects without incident.

Police say Justin Dalton, 32, of Okotoks, and Deanna O'Brien, 35, of Hardisty, were arrested.

According to RCMP, Dalton is facing a list of charges, including two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of flight from police, two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, three counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, three counts of operating an uninsured motor vehicle, mischief, and ten counts of failure to comply with recognizance.

Dalton was also wanted on multiple outstanding arrest warrants by Wainwright RCMP and Calgary Police Services.

He has been remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will make a court appearance in Camrose via CCTV on June 5.

Police say O'Brien has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from police, operating an uninsured vehicle, and was also wanted on multiple outstanding warrants by Killam and Provost RCMP.

She was released after a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in Wainwright Provincial Court on June 6.
