RCMP are investigating an attempted break and enter to an Okotoks residence last week.

On November 8, around 3:00 p.m. police responded to a home in the Mountain Street area after a man attempted to force his way inside.

According to RCMP the suspect came to the front door, and rang the door bell, when no one answered he began to pry the door open.

The residence was occupied at the time and the suspect was scared away when the homeowner yelled at him.

The suspect fled on foot, however it is believed he may have had a vehicle waiting close by.

The man is described as Caucasian, late 30's, 6'0", average build, wearing a black toque with large grey letters on it, black windbreaker jacket and jeans.

He used a tool similar to a crow bar, approximately 18" in length and red in colour.

RCMP say this is the second similar incident occurring in the middle of the afternoon, prompting a reminder to lock doors and be aware of the comings and goings in your neighbourhood.

Police ask anyone has information regarding this or any other crime to contact the Okotoks RCMP at 403-938-4202 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
