RCMP are continuing to gain ground in the fight against rural crime.

Between March 14th and 17th Airdire police were involved in a warrant roundup project.

The project focused on executing arrest warrants of people residing in Airdrie and Rocky View County.

Several units were involved to make the project run seamlessly including: Crime Reduction Unit, General Investigations Section, Domestic Violence Unit, General Duty members, Criminal Analyst, Watch Clerks, and Municipal staff members.

Airdrie RCMP arrested a range of offenders including prolific property crime offenders, domestic violence offenders, people active in identity and credit card theft, and repeat traffic offenders.

Most of the offenders arrested had warrants for failing to appear in court and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions on top of the original crimes they were charged for.

Several of the individuals arrested also had additional warrants from Calgary, Edmonton, Didsbury, Brooks, and Chestermere.

Sergeant Andrew Boxall, Airdrie RCMP CRU team leader said, "People who fail to appear in court, fail to comply with release conditions, and who continue to engage in criminal behaviour should expect to see the police knocking on their door. If you have a warrant for your arrest, we encourage you to turn yourself in and deal with the matter."

In total, there were 20 individuals arrested resulting in the execution of 45 arrest warrants and clearing of 61 charges.
