An incident regarding a cyclist who was injured by barbed wire is being investigated by RCMP in Cochrane.

On July 5 around 8 p.m., a pair of cyclists went for a ride on a trail in the west Bragg Creek area when shortly into the ride one of the cyclists was struck by a piece of barbed wire that was strung across trees on the trail.

The barbed wire hit the cyclist across the shoulders and knocked him off his bike.

The pair left the one bike at the scene before heading to hospital where the victim was treated for minor injuries.

When they returned to get the bike the next day it was gone.
