Rain has been a welcome sight in the Foothills after the past week's heat wave.

Jeff Porter, Agricultural Fieldman with the M.D. of Foothills, says while it may have been enough it to cool us off, the same can't be said for the crops.

"It hasn't been an overall rain for the Foothills area unfortunately. It's definitely good but we need a lot more of it and cooler temperatures."

Porter says while the rain is a good thing, it's not enough to see some positive changes for farmers and getting their crops out of drought stress.

"With the continued hot, dry weather that it looks like we are going to be experiencing, we are definitely in for some yield reduction for sure because of heat stress."

The heat is expected to return to the Foothills on Wednesday.
