The Sheep River Health Trust is gearing up for its largest fundraiser of the year.

The Radiothon is looking to reach new heights this year and has set a fundraising goal of $100,000.

Tanya Thorn, Sheep River Health Trust Representative, says over the last four years they've managed to raise $177,300 dollars for local health and wellness initiatives.

"It's gone back into Oilfields General Hospital and the Okotoks Health and Wellness Centre, and then various other programs. It Takes a Village, KidSport, Rowan House Emergency Shelter, Lemonade Day, we helped with a cancer centre project at the High River Hospital. So a lot of different elements that we're able to support that are proactive health and wellness initiatives."

Last year the event brought in over $57,000 and put close to $226,000 back into the community.

Thorn says they're supporting a variety of initiatives.

"We're supporting Literacy for Life, It Takes a Village, the Theraplay program with Rowan House, the seniors bus for the Longview and Area Seniors Club, we've got some medical equipment going into Oilfields General Hospital and the Rising Sun Long Term Care facility, KidSport's No Kids Sit on the Sideline project, and also finishing off the project at the Okotoks Health and Wellness Centre."

The event is taking place at Okotoks Sobeys and will include a barbeque lunch as well as a dunk tank.

The Radiothon will take place June 28 from 6 a.m.- 7p.m.
