Any merger between the Wildrose and the Alberta PC's would mean neither party can bring their war chests with them.
Elections Alberta says should a party dissolve, funds, in the form of donations, in that party's bank account have to be turned over to them.
Livingstone-Macleod, Wildrose MLA Pat Stier, says there's a long way to go between here and there.
"It's too early to talk about how that could go or will go. It will depend on how this unfolds as time goes on. And right now we're looking forward to talking with the new leader of the Progressive Conservative Association that is elected on March 18."
The Wildrose are very well funded right now, while the PC's are in debt, raising speculation the parties would re-form under the Wildrose banner to keep that cash in party coffers.
