Despite their best efforts the occupants in a stolen truck were arrested Thursday when the truck got stuck in marshland.

Just after noon, Gleichen and Vulcan RCMP got a report of a stolen ford Ford F-350 pick up near Arrowwood.  

They tried to stop it, but it fled from police on Highway 23.  

The RCMP called off the chase after seeing the vehicle driven in a dangerous manner, both on the highway and through fields.  

The Calgary Emergency Response team and Police Dog unit was called in to contain the vehicle in a field southwest of Eagle Lake where it eventually got stuck.  

At 3:30 Thursday afternoon all three occupants were arrested without any further incident, and taken to the Gleichen RCMP detachment.

While driving through the fields, some fence lines on private property were damaged, and the RCMP have ensured that property owners have been made aware.

At the time of his arrest, the driver, 23-year-old William Cory Kelly, was on conditional release.  Kelly is facing CHARGES OF Operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued,       Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, AND Driving while disqualified

He remains in custody and is scheduled for a court appearance on November 9, 2017.   

A 25-year-old male has been charged with two counts of Failing to Comply with a Recognizance.  He was wanted on warrants at the time of his arrest, and is also charged with theft of fuel in relation to an investigation in Carseland.  He is in custody pending a judicial interim release hearing.

A 22-year-old male was charged with failing to comply with a Probation Order.  He has been released on an Officer in Charge Recognizance.  His charges have not been sworn before the courts and the RCMP cannot name him.
