Black Diamond's Westwinds Communities and Habitat for Humanity are starting to look into the possible need for additional affordable housing.

Mayor of Black Diamond Ruth Goodwin says the study will allow them to know what moves need to be made in the future.

"It will provide us with specific information concerning the [5] municipalities and developing an analysis for the needs of affordable housing, We do believe that for future development within our community we definitely need to have that, Black Diamond is looking at working with an annex property owner on the East and North side of the town."

Goodwin says each community will likely be different and she expects the study to show that.

"There are some communities that have more affordable housing than others, whether or not we need to bump up the affordable housing in each community, I would say that each community will be very unique in what the needs are during this assessment."

The study is currently underway with Goodwin saying it may come to the general public in the future.

"If there is a public consultation portion to that study then that will come through all 5 towns and that information will be outsourced through our website and Facebook."
