The days of free admission at Canada's National Parks ends at the end of this year, but not for everyone.

Admission for youth 17 and under will continue to be free in the future for all National Parks and Historic Sites like the Bar U Ranch National Historic site south of Longview.

The federal government hopes by making admission free for youth under 17, and connecting with nature, youth will gain a better understanding of the urgent need to not only protect it, but maintain it for future generations.

Starting in 2018, the government is inviting Canadian families and their children, youth and school groups to experience the outdoors and learn more about our environment and history.

While young people will enjoy free admission beginning in 2018, Parks Canada is returning to fee-based admission for adults and seniors.
