With less than a month to go until the Okotoks Parade, the Town wants to make sure residents are informed of a few changes.

One of the changes involves a route reversal.

Mark Doherty, Community Events Coordinator for the Town of Okotoks, says the reverse comes from safety concerns.

"With the traditional route going westbound on Elizabeth Street, we noticed there's mass exodus going to the Children's Festival, so we're trying to stop that," he explains. "With the old route the way it went at Lineham Street we had a huge buildup of traffic waiting for the rest of the parade to go through and what was transpiring once they got through was we had no control which direction they were going."

Doherty says they're also changing up parade registration.

"We're changing how to get into the parade so we're trying to reduce our environmental footprint so we're going online. You have to look into okotoks.ca and just in the search bar look up 'parade entry' and then all the information will come up, you register that way."

The parade will start at 11 a.m. on June 16 and the Childrens' Festival will kick off directly after the parade and wrap up at 3 p.m.
