Okotoks residents now have the chance to visit the new Operations Centre after the Town held its official ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday.

Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson, Councillor Ed Sands, and Town CAO Elaine Vincent were in attendance to open the state of the art building to the public.

The Operations Centre opened to town departments in November 2016, who call one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in Okotoks, home.

The building runs off of 100% wind power, is 32% more energy efficient than most buildings its size, and features a living wall made entirely of plants to oxygenate the building.

The $17-million project took just over a year to construct.
