If you're a ball player who's upset that summer has ended don't worry - there's now a solution!

The Crescent Point Field House in M.D. of Foothills has created two indoor slo-pitch leagues. The Men's Competitive Slo-Pitch League and The Co-Ed Indoor Slo-Pitch League.

While the game is still the same, the rules and playing skills might differ slightly making the indoor style game a little more challenging. For instance, the batter can't hit the ball off the roof or he's automatically out, so power hitters be-ware. Line drives and ground balls might be a better choice - allowing players to really hone their skills for the regular ball season.

Rob Stang the Men's League President says during this first year the player get to have a say in how the rules play out.

"A good point to know is the guys voted for the roof to be an out, they were fine with it so It's not like we have people not showing up because you hit the roof and you're out." Stang says "In fact, they were in favour of it."

The numbers of athletes who have turned up for the leagues drop in nights have been steadily increasing, allowing the league to make different leagues and have three fields open to players a night.

Stang says one day he hopes to fill out 6 teams in total players by December 5th, and is enjoying watching the league grow.

"So the first night we played with 12 players, we played 6 per side and two players from the opposite team, played first and catcher so that we could at least play one game." Stang says numbers increased the second week. "We told the guys please bring some players out, your buddies or whatever so we can have a legitimate game. The Second night we played with 19 players and now tonight it's nice to see we have 22 registered players."

The playing fields at the Fieldhouse are 200ft long X 85ft wide, which makes the ball game slightly different but still just as fun to play. Stang says the ball has some different bounces as it hits the boards or the nets and it's still live.

"One thing you'll notice here is that there's a speed element too, as the ball moves off the walls pretty quick." Stang while watching a game tells us "There's some really good top notch players, you'll notice there was a double play turned there, and the athletes are incredibly quick."

Both leagues are accepting registration until the goal of six teams is filled, to find registration forms and payment info click here.
